How to play History Heroes
History Heroes is an auto-battler RPG built around 18 real historical figures. Your roster includes Spartacus, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Sun Tzu, Genghis Khan, Marie Curie, Mansa Musa, Saladin, Boudicca, Alexander the Great, and others โ each with a sourced historical fact and a kit that loosely reflects what they were known for. Sun Tzu is a strategist (buffs), Spartacus is a melee bruiser, Marie Curie is a damage-over-time specialist (radiation), and so on.
Combat is automatic. You build a team of three heroes, place them in front/back rows, and let the round play out. Between fights you spend gold on level-ups, gear, and recruiting new heroes. The game progresses through eras โ Ancient, Classical, Medieval, Early Modern, Industrial, Modern โ and each era unlocks new heroes and new opponents. The educational layer: every hero card shows a real historical date, a one-line biography, and a "what they actually did" footnote.
Tips
- Balance your roster. Two damage dealers + one support is the standard early-game formula. Glass-cannon teams die in boss fights.
- Read the kits. Some heroes have synergies โ Sun Tzu buffs adjacent allies, Hannibal is stronger when facing Romans. The flavor text isn't decoration; it's hints.
- Don't hoard gold. Spending on level-ups now compounds. Saving for a "perfect" hero often means losing the era boss and grinding the same fights again.
- Era bosses telegraph. Each boss has a specific weakness shown in the pre-battle screen. Bring the counter.
Difficulty & play time
Difficulty: medium. Estimated time: 20โ40 minutes per era; full run through all six eras is roughly 4โ6 hours. Suggested age: 10+. Combat is stylized โ no blood or graphic content. The historical facts are sourced from standard reference works, not Wikipedia summaries.
